Abstract Optimum conditions of synthesis of 4-ethyloxy-4'-(ω-hydroxyalkyloxy)azobenzenes and 4-ethyloxy-4'-(ω-hydroxyalkyloxy)azoxybenzenes homologues were developed (С3, С6, С8, С9). Their structural characterization was carried out by the methods of element analysis and IR and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Mesomorphic properties of the synthesized compounds were studied by polarizating thermomicroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The influence of the bridge groups and therminal substitutions on their meso-morphic properties was analyzed.
