Abstract Thermal analysis of seven mesogenic phenylbenzoates, azo- and azoxybenzenes with polar terminal substituents (–OH, –CHO, –CN, etc.) was carried out. It was found that the phase transition temperatures, determined by DTA method, are in satisfactory agreement with the thermo-microscopic data. Thermal stability of the studied substances was estimated.
