On April 16, 2009 IV Scientific Conference of Young Scientists "Liquid Crystals and Nanomaterials" was held in the conference hall of Ivanovo State University. The conference took place in the framework of the VIII Festival of Students, PhD Students and Young Scientists of Ivanovo State University. Director of Nanomaterials Research Institute Prof. Usol'tseva N.V. dressed the audience with opening greetings.

More than forty participants took part in the event: students, PhD students and young scientists of IvSU Nanomaterials Research Institute, Ivanovo State University and Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology, as well as the professors of the above mentioned institutions engaged in the liquid crystals and nanomaterials research. The organizing committee of the conference accepted 28 abstracts for publication.

The oral presentations were dedicated to general topics as well as specific issues related to the synthesis and structure of liquid crystals, their physical, chemical and electro-physical properties. The results of the on-going up-to-date research were presented that made the presentations interesting and significant.

Oral presentations were followed by 15 poster presentations, and the conference was concluded by the best presentation diploma award.
