Abstract An analysis of the prospects of the polyvinyl alcohol compositions structuring for active use as orienting coatings for liquid crystal sandwich cells has been made. The dependence of wetting angle values on concentration of the introduced sensitizer based on the graphene oxide has been established. The performed quantum-chemical calculations showed the advantage of carbon sensitization for the chosen polymer matrix. The results obtained extend an application area of the studied sensitized organic materials.
