Abstract
Quantitative data characterizing the aggregation behavior, antimicrobial activity and toxicity of hexadecyl cationic surfactants with two carbamate fragments in the head group (CB-n,n-16; where n is the number of carbon atoms in alkyl group of carbamate fragment) have been obtained. It has been established that these compounds exhibit high bactericidal and fungicidal activity against a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms, including their resistant forms. Binary systems CB-2,2-16/Tween 80 have been prepared and investigated. Under the varying the ratio of components, the critical micelle concentration values were determined, which indicated their negative deviation from the model of ideal mixing (synergistic effect). Membranotropic properties of dicarbamate surfactants and their binary compositions with Tween 80 were studied using dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine liposomes as a cell membrane model. The effect of surfactants on the main phase transition temperature of lipid bilayer characterizing its transition from liquid crystalline to gel state was determined by the turbidimetric method.

Keywords: dicarbamate surfactants, mixed aggregates, micellization, antimicrobial activity, membranotropic properties
