Abstract New composites based on polymer-dispersed liquid crystal materials and carbon nanotubes have been developed. The effect of pre-mechanical activation of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and nitrogen-containing carbon nanotubes (N-CNTs) as well as the use of ultrasound and sedimentation on the stability of carbon-organic solvent suspensions was studied. The optimal conditions for obtaining suspensions stable for 10 days, were determined. The possibility of using these suspensions for the formation of new liquid crystals – polymer – N-CNTs composites stably operating during 15 cycles of the electric field switch on and switch off is shown.
