CURRICULUM VITAE up

1962: Graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Saint Petersburg State University.
1967: PhD thesis defense
1975: Doctoral thesis defense.
1977: E. I. Rjumtsev was awarded the academic title of professor.
1995 - 2007: Director of the Research Institute of Physics named after V.A. Fock of St. Petersburg State University


Evgeny Ivanovich is a member of the Academic Council Faculty of Physics of St. Petersburg State University. E.I. Rjumtsev is a member of a specialized council for doctoral and master's theses at St. Petersburg State University.

HONOURS up

Evgeny Ivanovich Rjumtsev was awarded the title of Honored Science Worker of the Russian Federation.
He got the letter of acknowledgment of President of Russia.
In 1996 Evgeny Ivanovich won the main prize of the international publishing company "Science" and the first prize of the University for the best research
In 2007 he was awarded the Fredericks Medal according to the decision of the International Liquid Crystal Society.

RESEARCH INTERESTS up

E.I. Rjumtsev is widely known in our country and abroad as a leading expert in the physics of liquid crystals and polymers. His researches cover a wide range of problems related to the behavior of a wide range of polymers and dendrimers in solutions, electro-optical and dielectric properties of thermotropic liquid crystals. On the basis of the results of the researches a theoretical model describing the conformational, electro-optical and dynamic properties of macromolecules has been constructed and approaches to analyze the transition phase and pre-transition phenomena in melts of nematic and smectic liquid crystals have been developed.

AREA OF TEACHING ACTIVITIES up

The educational work of Evgeny Ivanovich is connected with St. Petersburg State University where he is Department Chairman. He reads lectures for students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Physics. E. I. Rjumtsev Ivanovich pays much attention to work with graduate and doctoral students. 7 doctors and 22 PhDs are among his students.

GRANTS up

E. I. Rjumtsev manages grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research as well as international grants. Evgeny Ivanovich is a leader of the Research and Educational School of St. Petersburg University in physics of polymers and liquid crystals which is awarded a grant within the program "Support of leading scientific and educational schools of Russia".


PUBLICATIONS up

Results of scientific activity of Evgeny I. Rjumtsev have been published in 230 articles issued in the leading Russian and foreign periodicals and 3 monographs.
