Abstract Polymer films were obtained on the basis of cellulose triacetate modified by phthalocyanine metal complex. By means of UV- and IR-spectroscopy it has been established that the interaction between the polymer and the phthalocyanine metal complex is going on according to the mechanism of extra-coordination. The antibacterial effect of the obtained films on a series of microorganisms is noticed.
