Abstract
The factors of the polarization dependence of the diffraction efficiency of polymer-liquid crystalline volume gratings formed with the holography method have been analyzed. We have estimated the contribution of the components of a prepolymer composition based on acrylate multi-function monomer and nematic liquid crystals into the polarization sensitivity of the formed gratings. Performed investigation has revealed that the polarization contrast observed on polymer-liquid crystal gratings appears only due to the optic anisotropy of the liquid crystals and geometrical anisotropy of their drops. Gratings' polarization sensitivity has been studied regarding the exposure time, grating spacing and monomer multifunctionality.

Keywords: polarization dependence, diffraction efficiency, holography, polymer-liquid crystalline volume gratings, liquid crystal, optic anisotropy
