Thermodynamic Parameters of Sorbates Solution in the Reentrant Nematic Phase by RGC Method

Abstract Thermodynamic functions of n-alcohols dissolution in the liquid crystal and isotropic phases of tricycle cyano-substituted mesogenes mixture under the infinite dilution conditions have been determined by RGC method. Regularities of the functions changes upon the phase state of the binary solvent, length of the alkyl chain in the alcohol molecule and temperature have been revealed. The reentrant nematic phase is found to possess less thermodynamical compatibility with the examined sorbates than the classic nematic one.
