Synthesis, Structure and Mesomorphism of Sandwich Complexes of Rare-Earth Metals with Octa(Benzo-15-Crown-5) Substituted phthalocyanine

Abstract Modelling, calculation of molecular parameters and the prognosis of mesomorphism of 15 new sandwich complexes of REM with octa(benzo-15-crown-5) substituted phthalocya-nine (II) is realized. The results of the prognosis revealed that compounds of the structures mentioned above could not build-up the columnar and nematic termotropic mesomorphism. The reason of mesomorphism absence is the small size of the K parameter, responsible for discoid form of such metalcomplexes (II).
With the purpose of prognosis results’ acknowledgement three metalcomplexes (M = La, Sm, Lu) were synthesized. Thermopolarizational researche of these samples II (M = La, Sm, Lu) has shown that they have no liquid crystal properties that adjusts well with the prognosis results.
