Abstract M- and p-Alkoxysubstituted tetraphenylporphine derivatives have been synthesized. The structure of compounds has been established by elemental analysis, IR-, 1H NMR and electronic spectroscopy. Their mesomorphic properties have been investigated by means of optical polarizing spectroscopy and DSC. Seven compounds are mesomorphic. Four of them possesses lyotropic mesomorphism in chloroform, toluene and DMF.
