Liquid Crystals Stabilized by A Polymer Network

Abstract The review is dedicated to a new class of polymer composites – to the dispersions of chemical polymer network in liquid crystals. A polymer network, which stabilizes the crystalline structure, is being formed in the process of photopolymerization of different bifunctional monomer in the liquid crystalline medium. Fabrication methods for such composites, their structure and morphology, as well as their optical properties, are considered. Finally the application areas of such materials are shown.
