Linear Longitudinal Electrooptical Effect in Nematic Liquid Crystals

Abstract The linear longitudinal electrooptical effect in the homeotropically –oriented layers of nematic liquid crystal was investigated experimentally. The cell looked like “a sandwich”. It was established that the intensity of the light passing through the cell and the size of phase delay depending on the applied tension changed linearly.
