Abstract
The modification of the optical method for measurements of anisotropic shear viscosities of liquid crystals is described. Application of stabilizing electric field as additional factor to the surface induced orientation makes possible to obtain the two principal shear viscosity coefficients η1 and η2 at usage of a unique measuring cell. It leads to increasing of accuracy and reliability of measurements for the restricted amount (about 0,2 cm3) of LC. The modified method can be applied for rheological investigations of newly synthesized liquid crystals.
