Abstract
A binary system composed of the liquid crystalline poly(propylene imine) dendrimer and nematic p-n-pentyloxy-p'-cyanobiphenyl has been studied by thermomicroscopy, differen-tial scanning calorimetry and inverse gas chromatography. In this system, there is the colum-nar phase being stable within broad ranges of temperature and component ratio. Depend-ences of the retention volumes of the solutes on composition of the sorbents are found to exhibit the maximum at 10 mas. % p-n-pentyloxy-p'-cyanobiphenyl.

Keywords: liquid crystals, dendrimer, p-n-pentyloxy-p'-cyanobiphenyl, phase diagram, differential scanning calorimetry, retention diagram
