Abstract Alkylsulfamoil substituted phthalocyanines: tetra-[3'6'-di(ethyl)sulfamoyl-1,8'-naphtyloxy]phthalocyanine and tetra-4-[(6'8'-di(ethyl)sulfamoyl-2'-naphtyl)oxy]phthalo-cyanine have been synthesized and their physico-chemical properties were investigated with the aim to study the effect of alkylsulfamoyl groups introduced into phthalocyanine molecule on liquid crystal properties.
