Abstract
A memory effect in liquid crystalline composite material is considered. The studied material represents a polymer film with cholesteric liquid crystal droplets dispersed in it. The cholesteric material was doped with an ionic surfactant. Optical memory effect is caused by a switching of cholesteric droplets between various stable orientation states. A stability of the states is provided due to a change of the boundary conditions by the surfactant ions under the action of electric field.
