Photodetectors with Internal Amplification Based on Copper Complex of Phthalocyanine

Abstract The photodiode on the basis of aluminum/copper phthalocyanine (Al/PcCu) Schottky junction is considered. The photodiode is operated in photoconductive mode at room temperature and do not require encapsulation. The basic characteristic of PcCu photodiode have been determined. It was shown the PcCu photodiode shows strong reverse current – bias voltage dependence. The current responsivity of photodiode has been also measured out of the absorption band of PcCu to be 100µA/W (λ=1060 nm). The possibility of the control of quantum efficiency of PcCu photodiode by electric field will be concerned. The construction of PcCu photodiode contains thin pyroelectric buffer layers (polymer ferroelectric film, polymer liquid crystalline film, organic polycrystalline film) to prevent destruction of al electrode. It was found that the presence of buffer films essentially enhances lifetime of PcCu photodiodes.
