Abstract The results on molecular design of new chiral and achiral star-like polysubstituted triphenylene derivatives are given. The data on the prognosis of mesomorphism for these compounds are analyzed. Synthesis and investigation of mesomorphic properties of two triphenylene derivatives with predicted type of mesomorphism was carried out.
