Abstract
The results of electrooptical measurements of porous PET films filled with a nematic liquid crystal (5CB) are presented. Frequency dependence of electro-optical response was found. After applying electric field with fast change of the polarity at low frequencies (f<fc) an impulse of light intensity appears and then decays for the time which is much shorter than the electric pulse duration. The dependences of critical frequency fc, threshold voltages and characteristic times on a pore diameter d were established. Such unusual behavior of the electro-optical response at low frequencies is probably assigned to the orienting action of the specific shear electroosmotic flow inside the pores.

Keywords: liquid crystal, pores, anisotropic media
