Abstract
The effect of the light polarization plane rotation by nematic liquid crystals under the air flow is studied. The results of LC optical response at different levels of shear stress measurements are given. It was obtained that nematic LC1289 is characterized by the perceptible shear sensitivity, which may be applied for development of techniques for shear stress diagnostics in aero dynamical experiment.

Keywords: nematic liquid crystals, shear stressеs, optical response, aero-dynamical experiment
