Coordination Properties of Octamethylporphyrin Derivatives in Acetonitrile

Abstract Kinetic studies of complexing properties of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-tret-butylphenyl)-2,3,7,8,-12,13,17,18-octamethylporphyrin and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(3',5'-di-tret-butylphenyl)-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octamethylporphyrin with zinc acetate in systems zinc acetate – acetonitrile and zinc acetate – 1,8-diazabicyclo-[5.4.0]-undec-7-en – acetonitrile were performed by the spectrophotometric method. It is established that the reaction of complex formation with doubly deprotonated forms of porphyrins proceeds much faster and with lower values of activation energy. The work discusses the influence of the environment, structural and electronic effects of the substituents on the kinetics of the reaction of metalloporphyrins formation.
