Orientation Structures of the Chiral Nematic Droplets in a Polymer Matrix

Abstract The interaction of the liquid crystal with a polymer surface is an extremely interesting physical problem owing to the fact that the influence of surface forces due to the ordered molecular structure of a mesophase can be transferred far into the bulk, specifying the structure and optical properties of liquid crystal composites. This paper discusses the various types of the orientational ordering of chiral nematic dispersed in a polymer matrix, depending on the concentration of cholesteric additives and the size of cavity filled by the nematic.
