Abstract
Basing on the analysis of colour characteristics of different liquid crystal (LC) display units a criterion for the assessment of black-and-white image achromaticity is introduced. To describe the optical characteristics of a LC lock adequately we propose the minimal set of characteristics, consisting of the lock contrast (averaged over the spectrum), the lock transmission in the «open» state (averaged over the spectrum), and the lock achromaticity in the «open» state. The computer modelling of optical characteristics of different types of LC locks for 3D glasses is performed and the optimal parameters are determined.
