Increase of Firmness of the Cutting Tool by Using Oil Compositions with Metal-Mezogenic Additives

Abstract The results of application of metal-mesogenic complexes as lubricant additives are presented in the work. It is shown that introduction of 1 wt. % of the studied substances into lubricant composition, which was used for processing metals by cutting, leads to considerable increase of the cutting firmness of the tool. This effect is due to the formation of highly associated forms of additive molecules (metal-mesogenic compounds), the decrease of shift degree between the layers and the increase in the adsorption capacity of lubricants including metal-mesogenic additives.
