Abstract This paper is dedicated to the synthesis and the investigations of physical-chemical properties of trans-4-alkyl-2-methyl(2,6-dimethyl)cyclohexanecarboxylic acids. It is shown that the mesomorphic esters of trans-4-alkyl-2-methyl(2,6-dimethyl)cyclohexanecarboxylic acids have a number of advantages in comparison with the analogous esters of trans-4-alkylcyclohexanecarboxylic acids and allow to obtain LC compositions with a lower values of threshold and saturated voltages, fast switch-on and switch-off times.
