Abstract
The current state of research of inorganic lyotropic liquid crystals is considered. They are aqueous or aqueous-organic dispersion and the disperse phases are crystal particles of nano- and micron size. The methods for their preparation, structure, physical and chemical properties as well as their effect on the electrical and magnetic fields are presented.

Keywords: inorganic lyotropic liquid crystals, colloidal dispersions, phase transitions, nematic phase, smectic phase, columnar phase, electrooptica, magnetooptica
