Abstract The review is devoted to the current state of research of lyotropic liquid crystals of carbon compounds – aqueous and organic dispersions of nanotubes and graphene compounds. Methods for obtaining dispersions, phase separation and phase transitions, physical and chemical properties, influence of shear flow and electric and magnetic fields on dispersion properties are considered.
