Abstract
The article contains data on the 14th European Conference on Liquid Crystals held for the first time in Russia. It is noted that the plenary report of Professor N.V. Tsvetkov contained extensive material on the activities of the outstanding Russian scientist V.K. Fredericks. A brief analytical review of the most interesting developments presented at 11 sectional meetings of the conference, which reflect the new and important areas of research in the field of liquid crystals and related materials is made.
