Synthesis, spectral and mesomorphic properties of camphor-substituted pyrazinoporphyrazines

Abstract Metal-free camphor-substituted pyrazinoporphyrazine was obtained by direct fusion of 1',7',7'-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptano-[2',3'-b]-2,3-dicyanopyrazine with NaOH. Metallo-complexes of 1',7',7'-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptano-[2',3'-b]-2,3-pyrazinoporphyrazine were synthesized by the template cyclotetramerization of dicarbonitrile with metal acetates. Spectral and mesomorphic properties of the synthesized complexes were studied.
